Submit

You enter the competition for Best Travel Story of the Year by choosing one or more categories. All stories entered in a category are automatically submitted for the Grand Prize at no additional charge.

How do I enter a story in the competition and make my payment?

The process is simple, and goes like this:

1. Click the link below (Submit your story for the Solas Awards here) to go to the page where you enter your contact information and bio.

2. Click the green “Continue” button to select the category or categories you want to enter. You may also select the optional country and city tags. Agree to the “Official Rules,” then enter your story into the text editor box and upload the story file name from your desktop into the box provided. Click the green “Continue” button and check the official rules box again. We do this twice to make sure that you have read and understood the rules before proceeding.

3. Enter your Paypal information. Once that step is complete, click “Continue” and you will be taken back to the Travelers’ Tales confirmation page and you are done.

4. Repeat the process for any additional stories you’d like to submit. Each submission will appear separately on your PayPal or credit card bill. (The system doesn’t allow submitting more than one story at a time.)

Submit your story for the Solas Awards here.

Entry fees: $25 for the first two optional categories, $5 for each additional category for the same story. All stories are automatically submitted for the Grand Prize at no additional charge (thus, when you choose your two “optional categories” you will be entered in three, your two choices and the Grand Prize category). If we choose to publish a story in one of our Travelers’ Tales books, we will pay our usual honorarium of $100 for non-exclusive world rights (that means you can sell it again whenever and wherever you want).

All stories receive equal consideration from the judges, the editors of Travelers’ Tales. Your confirmation of fee paid will constitute the sole notification that your entry was received, and we will contact you if you are a winner.
